STORM @ 1:54:00 PM

Seeing how I'm feeling uninspired lately (You must have noticed by the lack of daily updates..) my best friend Do suggested I write about this particular artist, Satoshi Oono. I would have stoned myself to death for forgetting about him, used to be my favorite artist until the day I found about Nara Yoshitomo and Maruo Suehiro.
Part of the famous Japanese band ARASHI, Satoshi Oono not only showcases his efforts in singing and dancing but he is an accomplished fresh new visual artist who embarked into the art world back in 2008 with the publication of his first artbook FREESTYLE and opening his first solo exhibition too.
His style is both rigid and playful, always teasing details in a comical manner. It's never too serious or too funny. Just perfect.
He doesn't stop there but goes on adding figurines into the mix. His little soldiers are a bunch of bad boys ready to fight. They may have the same features and poses but the unique additions of accessories sure give each and every one (100 duplicates~) their special characteristic(s). One of the few celebrity (Maybe only..) who I believe is truly a "star". Support him by getting the book, I already have a copy. Bliss!

translated excerpt from FREESTYLE, text by Satoshi Oono: "it troubles me when I hear [I have] “special gift”… What I’m saying is if you love it carry it out. Of course…it’s filled with failures. (laughs) But if you find your own idea of “this is what I want to be”, you’d crawl up even if there were failures. If you really love it. It’s how you grasp things but in the end it’s about “you like or don’t like it” or “if you are interested or not”, right? If you like to draw, try to draw and then if you feel “oh…I might like this, might have interest in this” then you would keep on doing it, and if you say “not really…” that does not mean you do not have the gift, you just do not have the interest in it. If you find interest in it, you’d keep on drawing and, because it’s fun, you would draw. Because you love it, it’s fun. You’ll simply feel WAKUWAKU [excited]"
